Gatwick Airport is a major station located on the Brighton Main Line between London Victoria/London Bridge and Brighton. It is the main station serving Gatwick Airport, which currently stands as London's 2nd busiest airport after Heathrow.
Due to the high usage of the airport, a high number of trains serve the station to accommodate. On the day I visited, it was one of the last days of the summer holidays, with many passengers at Gatwick Airport station travelling home after their flights. This combined with a track inspection in the Earlswood area led to busy platforms and some delays, particularly with many of the platforms rendered out of use, for the improvement of the station.
Nevertheless, filming at Gatwick Airport was a blast as always, with services seen by Thameslink using Class 700s, Southern using Class 377s and Gatwick Express using their Class 387s. The last time I visited would have been in April 2018 and so much has changed since then. I look forward to taking a look at the station when the improvement works are complete.
My next video will be another attempt at the All Lines Challenge. Can we get a sub-40 minute record?
