Continuing the 2023 Barrie Airshow presented by Pratt Homes! Next up after a brief break was the RCAF CF-18 Hornet Tactical Fighter Demonstration. This was a new addition to the airshow circuit but certainly something we haven't' seen before. Due to the Royal Canadian Air Force taking a period of reconstruction, this years Demo Team's performances have been cut down to ten shows only. These will consist of a mix of two types of performances; a tactical fighter support demonstration highlighting the CF-18’s ability to provide support to soldiers on combat operations and an aerobatic demonstration showcasing the CF-18’s wide range of capabilities. Both demo's will be flown by grey jets.
For the show, two single seat Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18's took flight. These were piloted by Jean-Luc Bologarsky 'PICARD' and Jean Sebastien Otis 'HOT MIKE'. The Demonstration consisted of an overhead pass to start the show followed by a series of passes which included gear down passes, photo passes and a number of strafe runs. After a ten minute or so demo, the two Hornets returned to base at Simcoe Airport.
