"46 Good Day" was KPBI's self-produced daily morning local talk show. We were understaffed, underequippped and underbudgeted to try such an undertaking, so quality varied wildly, but it has that "tail end of the era of locally owned mom 'n' pop stations" charm to it. I tried to give the end credits some class and heart; that was a great jingle accompanying the credits. (I intentionally left myself off the credits.)

$UPN 32/36 Legal ID (1996?) With a 3D logo rendered as a still in Lightwave and exported to TARGA TIPS+, this was a legal ID to update the look at KFDF (sorely needed). Since we had no money but still wanted to make it look neat, I fed a still image of the logo - blown up to full-screen size - into a DOS fractal program called FRACTINT to generate the reflective moving patterns in the background. A NOTE ABOUT VIDEO QUALITY I began archiving my work-related video years before YouTube existed. It was an age of darkness, an age of limited web storage, an age of... {shudder} ...dial-up connections. More to the point, my work archive at my site was all dependent on... {shudder some more} ...Adobe Flash. These videos were converted, usually from either the master MII or Beta tapes of from VHS dubs, with a program called Sorenson Squeeze. Sorenson is great for what it does, but with scenes featuring a lot of motion, theres often a lot of pixellation and motion artifacting thats considered unacceptable these days. The Sorenson files were also generated at a very small resolution, and thus the video extracted from them could only be the same resolution. (I no longer work at any of the TV stations for whom I produced these spots, and as such no longer have access to the master tapes.) I hope you enjoy this little walk down local TV memory lane.$
