One of the Last Flagstop Trains in America | Hurricane Turn Train #rvalaska Chasing Our Sunshine 2025-10-30 | For our best experience in Talkeetna, we took the famous Hurricane Turn Train - one of the last trains in the nation to provide flagstop service! This means you can hop on or off anywhere along the route through the Alaskan wilderness.Our tour guide was absolutely amazing, sharing stories and information the entire journey. The views are incredible, and we even caught a partial view of Denali from the train. The turnaround point is right in the middle of Hurricane Gulch bridge - it's high up there! 😅Plan for 4-5 hours and bring your own snacks and drinks (no food service onboard). Between Seward and Homer, our dog Maya was suddenly paralyzed in her back legs in Soldotna. We faced impossible decisions, carried her with towels for days, and didn't know if she'd ever walk again. We discovered our RV water heater not working on electric (but fine on propane) after 3 1/2 years of full-time RV Living. Little did we know, we were sitting on a FIRE HAZARD!
