'Twas the sweeps before Christmas, and this was threatening to be a rather boring spot unless we did something reasonably attention-getting. So the entire spot is a poem with a "follow the bouncing ball" gag (which management wasn't crazy about until they saw it in action - as simple as it seems, it took ages to do on our slooooow old Mac-based Avid system). The spot turned out okay. For a concept that everyone seemed unsure about the first time around, the following year it was almost expected that this was how the spot for this piece would be done every year.
