This video is about how to handle your gaming PC cables for greater efficiency and heat management. While you can simply cram them into your PC case, put the panel on and try to forget about them, a little additional effort at assembly can save a lot of trouble later.
In addition to looking sleeker and more professional, proper cable management can improve airflow inside your system, which will keep temperature down and prolong the lifespan of your components, give you better performance, make PC upgrades easier, limit dust buildup, and prevent snags, tears, and other issues resulting from cable friction. It takes extra preparation, but the benefits make it worth the effort.
You’ll need zip ties, Velcro straps, cable sleeves or wraps, or a combination of these. When deciding, consider the aesthetics, as well as how often you think you’ll need to get in there to adjust. Take stock of your situation while planning: how many cables do you have? Where do they connect? After installing your major components, sort your cables outside the case according to their function, be it audio, video, power, etc. Some folks will use color-coded cable sleeves or Velcro straps to bundle everything and keep it straight.
Once all your cables are sorted, start planning where each will go in the case. Ensure that your GPU fans or CPU coolers are not being obstructed by cables. Once everything is routed to your liking, bundle similar cables (power, data, fan cables etc.) together so that they, and you, can stay organized. Color coding can be helpful, or other means of differentiation like label tags or marks.
Time, effort, patience and planning are what it’s all about. Some people find the process of cable management meditative. We recommend taking your time to accomplish sleek cable management as opposed to speeding through it to get to bootup as fast as possible.
