I had 4 hours to fix these HiVi speakers… or lose them forever.
My wife gave me a deadline, the stakes were real, and the pressure was VERY real.
But instead of giving up, I decided to try something I’ve never done before:
Turn a failing passive crossover into a full DSP-powered rescue mission.
This wasn’t just a repair — it was a race against the clock, a battle of nerves, and a chaotic engineering challenge where every decision mattered. And with the old crossover ripped out, there was no turning back…
To pull this off, I teamed up with:
🧠 Stas (my DSP partner in crime) — letting me tune drivers with surgical precision
👂 OmniMic — revealing every peak, dip, distortion spike, and room anomaly
Together, we measure, diagnose, fine-tune, and rebuild the entire system from scratch… all while dodging interruptions, fighting the clock, and praying the ribbon tweeter doesn’t go up in smoke.
This video isn’t a tutorial.
It’s not a review.
It’s a story — a challenge, a test of patience, problem-solving, and way too many panic sweeps.
And by the end… let’s just say the entire family had something to say about the results.
If you like story-driven engineering chaos, you’re in the right place.

What’s the worst “you’ve only got a few hours to fix this” project YOU’ve ever had?
