Some video experimentation with my 3D Robotics Y6 multicopter, flying around the southeastern butte in Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona, fall 2013.
The buttes are comprised of reddish sedimentary mudstone with a variety of embedded rocks. The video was shot just after sunrise using the low-angle incident light to accentuate the shadows and contours of the butte. Also some video of local flora and of the pilot operator.
The aircraft is a 6-motor multicopter, the 3D Robotics Y6, using the APM autopilot computer, and flown variously in stabilized, altitude hold, and loiter modes. The camera is a GoPro Hero2 at 1080p, 30 fps, medium field of view. Stabilizer is an RCTimer brushless gimbal using Martinez control board.
