Life in the mountains is VERY strenuous in the fall and winter months. In that past I've just pushed through with my training regardless of what I was doing out in the cold. The result has been a torn biceps, rib and intercostal Costochondritis, and re-aggravating an old groin strain. Ultimately putting the brakes on my training. Not this year though.
