The 3D printed statue shown in the video was made as part of an international, cross-disciplinary project dedicated to marine conservation. After production, the metal statue was placed at the base of a cubic vortex carved out of Carrara marble. Pictures of the whole project can be found here: instagram.com/p/CfJFhRDsnz_

The ensemble embodies the anthropic responsibility for the ocean's fragile conditions: the human being is immersed in a cognitive and emotional vortex, being at the same time the root cause of problem and the solution to it. The artistic project—referred to as “Marea” (the Italian word for “Tide”)—was used for outreach at secondary schools together with a song that was specifically composed for this initiative using lyrics suggested by the children (youtube.com/watch?v=Ziz0Orz8_XI). It was exhibited at Festivalmar in 2022, in Milan, as part of the 30x30 Campaign for the promotion of marine protected areas in Italy (https://30x30.it/festivalmar/). The work 'Marea' is kept at the "Lanino" educational institute in Vercelli (IT).
