Last Friday we had Wax Motif at Warehouse Live Midtown Houston.
At 6am that morning I pulled up PRISM Insights and saw something that gave me pause.
The data looked strong — over a million Spotify listeners, trending upward in Houston specifically, five previous shows averaging 863 tickets and $22,332 in gross sales.
But the presale said 399 tickets. Less than half his average.
The Houston market has been inconsistent and volatile this year. So which do you trust — the AI data or the presale numbers?
Here's what actually happened:
— 235 tickets sold day of show
— 634 total by the time doors opened
— Wax Motif delivered an exceptional set
— Diverse crowd — upscale nightclub crowd mixed with our regular rave audience
— He invited women on stage to dance around the DJ booth — full Boiler Room vibes
— Bar did over $15,000
— The show ended the night with a modest profit
At 6am that morning — that outcome was far from guaranteed.
The PRISM data was right about the artist. But it doesn't always tell you about the market.
Houston in 2026 has been one of the most unpredictable markets I've seen in my career. The AI can show you what happened in Boise, Honolulu, Scottsdale, and Boulder. It takes experience to know what that means for Houston on a Friday night in July.
The real value of AI in live entertainment? It's not about replacing judgment. It's about informing it.
Data gave me a reason to believe. Experience kept me cautious. That combination is where the real advantage lives.
