Here are three wishes I have for your relationship:
That you like each other.
-In any healthy relationship this will come and go, so we need to work at being likable and removing barriers to liking the other person.
That you love each other.
—Unless things are really toxic and dysfunctional, this should be a standard—simply because the other person is a human being made in the image of God and worthy of a basic level of love.
But, this next one is the key to having an extraordinary relationship…and my biggest wish for you…
That you are in love with each other.
-Now, this can come and go too, but it is essential, so—if we fall out of love with someone with whom we are in a relationship and we want it to continue—we must learn to/and work at falling in love with each other again.
To fall in love with someone again, or to stay in love, takes work. So, make connection, intimacy, communication, trust, kindness…and liking them (and being likable) and loving them (and being lovable) a priority and you’ll be more likely to find yourselves in love with each other!
