The teep is one of the most important weapons in Muay Thai — but modern fighters are finding increasingly creative ways to use it.
Here, Muay Thai world champion Keith McLachlan demonstrates several unorthodox variations of the teep that are becoming increasingly popular with Japanese fighters, helping you disrupt rhythm, control distance and create openings in sparring.
McLachlan is a highly respected figure in the UK Muay Thai scene. A multiple-time WBC Muay Thai champion, he has captured major titles across several levels and has competed internationally throughout his career.
He originally rose to prominence training out of the legendary The Griphouse, a gym widely recognised for producing top-level fighters across Muay Thai and MMA.
Now founder and head coach of Eclipse Muay Thai, McLachlan continues to develop the next generation of fighters, including his sons Corey and Reece McLachlan, who are both hugely successful competitors on the UK Muay Thai scene.
In this video you’ll learn:
• creative teep variations used in modern Muay Thai
• how to break an opponent’s rhythm using unorthodox attacks
• ways to control distance and disrupt aggressive fighters
• how to incorporate these techniques into sparring
These concepts are especially effective for fighters looking to develop a more unpredictable and intelligent striking game.
