Oil plays a key role in ensuring that cars and our timepieces function reliably. We invite you to learn more about the usage of oil in our watches from one of our master watchmakers.

Depending on the use, the oil must meet different requirements regarding viscosity and thickness. As a rule of thumb, the oil used will be thinner in the escape wheel than in the barrel, and the more complicated the timepiece, the more oil points there will be. For example, our LANGE 1 uses four oil types and two greases at 115 oil points, and our ZEITWERK has a total of 300 oil points.
