This weekend’s video isn’t about making pots, but rather what happens afterwards. I talk about how I sell my work and why I’m determined to keep it fair and transparent. I share why I don’t go through galleries, the importance of keeping creative control, and how I try to make the buying process simpler and less frantic. I even show how I pack each piece so it can travel safely around the world. It’s not the romantic side of pottery, but it’s a huge part of what keeps this little studio alive.
This week has been a blur. For five straight days I’ve been buried in cardboard, tape, and endless mountains of packaging chips, my fingers are rubbed raw from folding, wrapping, and sealing. By Friday evening, I finally packed the last box from my 17 August shop update, only the labelling remains. To be completely honest with you, heading into this drop I felt anxious and incredibly stressed. With the sudden halt to shipping orders to the USA and EU (tariffs and GPSR regulations are enough to drive anyone mad), I feared sales would be far slower and maybe even stall completely. Instead, the opposite happened, you lot cleared the shop in 3 minutes and 53 seconds. I’m still stunned. Truly.
It’s moments like this that remind me of how lucky I am to have people who not only support what I make but do so with such speed and enthusiasm, even when hurdles such as a manic buying experience get thrown in the way. It’s all very overwhelming in the best possible sense and a topic which I could speak endlessly about, hence the longer YouTube self-examination this weekend.

*I throw using both a Rohde HMT 500 & 600 potter's wheel and fire using Rohde kilns too, the electric is a TE-200 and the gas kiln is a KG-340.
