Out of pure curiosity, I put one of my Betamovie camcorder batteries on the charger that came with the camcorder, and surprisingly, it still charged! I was even able to power up the camcorder and run it! I am really shocked by this since the battery is 28 years old, and most rechargeable batteries gradually lose their ability to recharge after 10 to 15 years of use. In fact, my Canon ES900 camcorder from 1996 has three batteries, and two of them don't hold any charge, and the third only lasts about five minutes. I've also seen Sony Handycam batteries from the late 90's or early 2000's that can't hold a charge. So, these Sony batteries must be really good to still recharge after 28 years!
