Twenty-five years after 9/11, remembering the victims also means remembering what that day taught us.

Four weeks before the September 11 attacks, a suicide bomber murdered 15 innocent people at the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem. Then, on 9/11, nearly 3,000 people were murdered in the United States.

Different terrorists. Different countries. The same warning: terrorism does not recognize borders, and deliberately targeting civilians can never be excused or justified.

Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, President of Shurat HaDin – Israel Law Center, reflects on another lesson that has shaped more than two decades of Shurat HaDin's work: terrorism needs money.

That's why we pursue not only terrorists, but the financial networks and enablers that help make their crimes possible.
