Texture Pastes are a great way to add tone on tone texture. Ideally, you should add them first, then you are able to incorporate them into your project. However, you can always add white texture pastes as another layer to your project. I add the white through a stencil, whereas the crackle can be added with a brush or palette knife. In the the video you will see the different applications of the pastes and how to incorporate them into your backgrounds.
