This is the kind of moment that raises serious questions. Is this biblical giving, or is this emotional pressure? Is this generosity, or is this manipulation? When a preacher stands before a congregation and calls for a specific number of people to give a specific amount of money, we have to slow down and ask: where is this in Scripture?
The Bible does teach giving. Christians should be generous. Churches need support. Ministry costs money. But biblical giving is supposed to be cheerful, willing, and not under compulsion. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:7:
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
That matters. Because when giving becomes tied to pressure, fear, public attention, spiritual reward, prophetic promises, or emotional manipulation, it stops looking like New Testament generosity and starts looking like religious fundraising theater.
In this video, we discuss why these types of offering appeals are so concerning, especially when people are told that a certain number of individuals need to sow a certain amount. What happens to the person who does not have $1,000? Are they less faithful? Did they miss God? Are they outside the blessing? Are they being disobedient? These are the kinds of burdens that get placed on people when giving is handled carelessly from the pulpit.
We also talk about the broader pattern in many churches where offerings are no longer simple opportunities to give, but extended moments of persuasion. The music starts playing. The preacher starts pushing. The amount gets named. The number of people needed gets announced. The atmosphere gets emotional. And before long, people may feel pressured to give money they do not have because they believe God is requiring it.
That is not how shepherds should treat the sheep.
Jesus never sent His apostles out to manipulate poor people out of money. Paul never told the church to pressure 21 people for $1,000 seeds. The apostles preached Christ crucified, repentance, faith, holiness, endurance, love, sound doctrine, and generosity that flowed from the heart — not giving campaigns built around emotional pressure.
This video is not about attacking giving. This is about defending biblical giving. It is about protecting people from being made to feel like God’s favor is for sale. It is about challenging the idea that large “seeds” unlock blessings, breakthroughs, mantles, or miracles.
The church needs to return to biblical stewardship, transparent ministry, and giving that is free from manipulation. God does not need gimmicks. He does not need pressure tactics. He does not need preachers turning the pulpit into an auction block.
