The 2027 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 992.2 has been spotted testing with major aerodynamic changes, and an even bigger change could be hiding underneath. Could Porsche really be preparing a turbocharged GT3 RS with around 650 horsepower?
New spy photos of the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 RS reveal an aggressive evolution of one of Porsche's most track focused road cars. The prototype features revised front aerodynamics, new dive planes, redesigned air openings, a larger looking splitter, updated side intakes, rear diffuser changes, and subtle modifications to the massive rear wing.
The biggest mystery surrounds the engine. The current Porsche 911 GT3 RS uses a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat 6 producing 518 horsepower, but increasingly strict emissions requirements could make maintaining that formula more challenging.
One possibility being discussed is a smaller 3.6 liter turbocharged flat 6 that could potentially produce around 650 horsepower. Porsche has not confirmed this powertrain, so for now it remains speculation. If it happens, however, it would represent one of the biggest changes in the modern history of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
With the latest prototype appearing increasingly close to production form, Porsche could be moving closer to revealing the 992.2 GT3 RS.
