The numbers show just how much the electrical assistance changes the character of the GV80. Total output rises to 352 horsepower compared with 300 horsepower for the gasoline model. Torque makes an even larger jump, increasing from 311 pound feet to 391 pound feet.
The new GV80 Hybrid combines a turbocharged 2.5 liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine with 2 electric motors and a new liquid cooled hybrid battery. The system allows the vehicle to operate electrically at low speeds, while electric assistance provides substantially more torque than the standard gasoline powered GV80.
Genesis says internal testing showed approximately a 25 percent improvement in fuel efficiency for a rear wheel drive model equipped with 19 inch wheels. The hybrid also introduces intelligent regenerative braking, Stay Mode for operating the climate system without continuously running the gasoline engine, and a new 7 speed automatic transmission designed for smoother operation.
The GV80 Hybrid also receives new wheel and grille designs along with additional 2 tone interior combinations, genuine wood trim choices, and new upholstery quilting patterns.
