The 2026 Skoda Kamiq is the small SUV that wins by keeping things simple. In this walkaround of the facelifted Kamiq in sporty Monte Carlo trim, we go around the sharper new face, the crystalline LED tail lights and the full Skoda wordmark tailgate, then inside to the real climate buttons, the digital display and the roomy rear seats, before the part that sells the car: a 400 litre boot that beats the Volkswagen T-Cross while the Kamiq starts about a thousand pounds less.

We keep it honest too: the seven-speed automatic can hesitate at low speed, and there is still no hybrid option in a class that has largely gone electrified.
