The new 2026 MINI John Cooper Works is here – and after a full week of driving it on British roads, I’ve got plenty to say about it.
In this mini jcw review, I take a proper look at the latest mini cooper jcw, including the performance, handling, ride comfort, interior, infotainment, practicality, sound and whether this new mini john cooper works is actually worth buying.
This is a full car review and real-world road test of the latest mini f66 jcw, covering everything from the 231hp 2.0-litre turbocharged BMW B48 engine to the 7-speed automatic gearbox, 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds and 155mph top speed.
The big question is whether the 2026 mini jcw is actually better than the mini cooper s, and whether it deserves its place among the best modern hot hatches.
MINI says the new mini john cooper works is the ultimate expression of its famous go-kart feeling. After driving it, I can see exactly what they mean – the steering is sharp, the turn-in is excellent, there’s loads of grip and the car feels genuinely special.
But it isn't perfect.
The ride is extremely firm on typical British roads, the infotainment system is frustrating, rear legroom is virtually non-existent and there are some obvious signs of cost-cutting. There’s also no mechanical limited-slip differential, while the brakes are perfectly adequate on the road but can start to struggle when pushed hard.
So, is this 2026 mini cooper jcw worth the £33,500 starting price? Is the JCW worth choosing over the mini cooper s? And how does it compare with the previous-generation F56 car?
I also compare it with the Vauxhall Mokka GSE and look at whether the new MINI still has that all-important X-factor that has made mini cooper such an enduring performance car.
