2026 Lexus RZ – Lexus's Bespoke Electric SUV / Lexus RZ550e F Sport AWD (interior and exterior highlights)
The enhanced 2026 Lexus RZ made its North American debut today, bringing significant upgrades in power, range, and driving dynamics. This battery-electric luxury SUV builds on Lexus’ electrification legacy that began with the RX 400h in 2005. Under the “Lexus Electrified” vision, the brand continues to expand its electric offerings through HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs to meet diverse global needs.
Initially launched in 2023 as Lexus’ first purpose-built global BEV, the RZ evolved with a front-wheel-drive variant in 2024 to improve range. Now, the 2026 model introduces a new powertrain system that offers more motor output, longer range, and quicker charging. Lexus is also debuting the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, a new performance model producing 402 total system horsepower with upgraded front and rear motors. The RZ lineup now includes three variants: the RZ 350e FWD with 221 horsepower, the RZ 450e AWD with 308 horsepower, and the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD with 402 horsepower.
The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD enhances the lineup with sportier performance and design. It introduces Lexus’ new M Mode, which lets drivers simulate manual gear shifts using paddle shifters for a more engaging experience. The exterior features blacked-out F SPORT elements, including unique bumpers, a rear spoiler, grille, and 20-inch aero wheels. A new exclusive color called Wind, a light gray with metallic highlights, further sets the F SPORT model apart. Across the range, Lexus will offer seven monotone and four bi-tone color options.
Range and charging also see improvements. The 2026 RZ adopts the North American Charging System (NACS) and upgrades to an 11-kW onboard AC charger from the previous 7-kW unit. Under ideal conditions, it can fast charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. The RZ 350e FWD delivers an estimated range of about 300 miles, while the RZ 450e AWD achieves around 260 miles. The high-performance RZ 550e F SPORT AWD offers a range of approximately 225 miles on 20-inch tires.
The 2026 RZ continues to deliver the Lexus Driving Signature, offering a smooth, connected, and quiet ride, with noise and vibration carefully minimized. The interior keeps its minimalist yet luxurious character, enhanced by a Dynamic Sky Panorama Glass Roof that adjusts for transparency or shading. The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD cabin is trimmed in black Ultrasuede with blue stitching, aluminum pedals, and laser-etched door trim with Thematic Illumination that subtly animates to reflect the passage of time, a concept inspired by Lexus’ “Time in Design” philosophy.
The 2026 RZ will be built at the Motomachi plant in Japan and is scheduled to go on sale later this year. Full specifications and pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
