BMW, the leading innovator in premium automotive design and technology, has officially unveiled the highly anticipated next-generation BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. These iconic models represent the pinnacle of BMW's commitment to sustainable mobility and luxurious driving experiences, setting new standards in the premium midsize segment.
The BMW i4, renowned for its all-electric capabilities, now introduces a groundbreaking variant with electric all-wheel drive, further enhancing its performance and appeal. With a maximum system output of 295 kW/401 hp and an impressive range of 444 – 548 kilometres (276 – 341 miles) in the WLTP cycle, the BMW i4 xDrive40 delivers unmatched driving pleasure without compromising on sustainability.
Charging the BMW i4 has never been easier, thanks to the Combined Charging Unit that enables AC charging at a maximum rate of 11 kW and DC charging at up to 205 kW. The BMW i4 is also equipped for Connected Home Charging, offering solar-optimized and load-optimized charging solutions along with Plug & Charge Multi Contract for seamless charging experiences on the go.
Meanwhile, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé receives a significant transmission upgrade, with all combustion-engined variants now featuring the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission as standard. The range of engine options includes a powerful six-cylinder in-line petrol engine in the BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé, along with two four-cylinder petrol engines, a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit, and a four-cylinder diesel, some equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology for enhanced efficiency and performance.
Both the BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé showcase BMW's renowned driving dynamics, ensuring a sporty yet refined driving experience on every journey. Model-specific tuning for chassis technology, electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, integrated braking systems, and near-actuator wheel slip limitation come standard, delivering unparalleled agility and control.
In terms of design, the exterior of these models has been meticulously crafted to exude presence and elegance. The front view features a newly designed BMW kidney grille with options for surface enclosures or mesh structures, complemented by striking headlights with vertical light sources and optional Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam and Laserlight rear lights.
Inside the cabin, the BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé offer a blend of luxury and innovation. The BMW Curved Display takes center stage, along with newly designed steering wheels, upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect, premium upholstery options including Sensatec, Vernasca leather, and BMW Individual Merino leather trim, and advanced digital controls for climate and entertainment functions.
Production of all model variants will take place at BMW Group Plant Munich, with a worldwide market launch scheduled to begin in July 2024. Whats Hiding in Hondas 2025 Prototypes? – Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV / Honda
At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Honda unveiled the world premiere of the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon prototypes, marking the debut of its new 0 Series line of battery electric vehicles (EVs). These models will pave the way for Hondas first dedicated EV architecture, set to launch production models in North America in 2026, followed by global markets.
Honda 0 SUV Prototype: The Honda 0 SUV is a mid-size EV SUV and the first to use Honda’s new EV architecture. The SUV follows the Thin, Light, and Wise design approach, offering an expansive cabin and excellent visibility, thanks to a steer-by-wire system that enhances handling. The ASIMO OS—an advanced vehicle operating system inspired by Hondas beloved ASIMO robot—enables ultra-personal optimization, allowing the SUV to adapt to each users needs and preferences. This model is slated for production at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, with a launch in North America in the first half of 2026.
Honda 0 Saloon Prototype: The Honda 0 Saloon serves as the flagship of the 0 Series. With its bold styling, low-slung sporty design, and spacious interior, this sedan stands apart in the EV market. Featuring Level 3 automated driving technology and ASIMO OS, it offers a highly personalized experience through its AI-powered system. Honda plans to introduce the production version of the 0 Saloon in late 2026 in North America, followed by a global rollout.
ASIMO Operating System (OS): Named after the iconic ASIMO robot, the ASIMO OS integrates various vehicle systems, including automated driving and infotainment, into a cohesive software platform. It allows for continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that the vehicle evolves to meet the specific preferences of each driver. ASIMO OS aims to provide a software-defined vehicle experience, where features and services evolve long after the vehicle is purchased.
Automated Driving Technology: Building on Hondas advancements in autonomous driving, including the Level 3 automated driving technology from the Honda SENSING Elite, Hondas future EVs will provide eyes-off technology, allowing drivers to engage in other activities while the car handles driving. The 0 Series will further expand this technology, making it available in more driving conditions through OTA updates.
Development of SoC (System-on-Chip): In partnership with Renesas Electronics, Honda will develop a high-performance System-on-Chip (SoC) to power future 0 Series models. This SoC will provide the necessary processing power to support the advanced AI and vehicle functions while minimizing power consumption.
Energy Services: Honda aims to offer a seamless EV ownership experience with new energy services. A major initiative is the Home Energy Management System to help owners optimize charging, reduce CO2 emissions, and even enable vehicles to send energy back to the grid. Honda is also partnering with other automakers to create a joint charging network in North America, aiming to install 30,000 charging stations by 2030.
With these innovations, Honda is positioning the 0 Series as an iconic range of next-gen EVs, providing a dynamic and environmentally friendly mobility experience.
