🐢🌊 We're near the end of a record-breaking sea turtle nesting season with over 1,000 emergences reported!
This number includes nesting crawls and false crawls, which happen when sea turtles turn back before laying a nest, often due to obstructions or being unable to find a suitable nesting site.
Although we are no longer seeing new nests at this point in the season, our daily sea turtle patrols continue to survey beaches through the end of October, waiting for final nests to hatch and looking out for hatchlings. 🥚➡️🐢
We often need to rescue them after being disoriented by lighting 🔦 near beaches.
