Commemorating Anabaptism’s 500 Years: Anabaptist beginnings and the stories we tell
Commemorating Anabaptism’s 500 years is an opportunity to consider our dominant communal memories and the stories we tell. So, what narratives should we be considering at the present time?
This presentation suggests that in avoiding stories from the margins and stories we have marginalized, we will be left with a situation intellectually unsatisfying, and significantly limiting in our understanding of the past.
Dr. Karl Koop received his PhD from St. Michael’s College in the Toronto School of Theology, an MDiv from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries, a BA from the University of Manitoba, and a BTh from Canadian Mennonite Bible College. Before coming to CMU, Karl taught at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries for five years. Currently Karl is doing research and writing in the field of Anabaptist Studies. He is also co-editor for Vision: A Journal for Church and Theology.
