Check out this freeze dried 24 hour ration from France. It's a calorie dense, yet lightweight pack of food that has some absolutely fantastic components, and a couple that were a real surprise all considering the usual quality of the MREs that are used by the French military. It's Beef Goulash with Rice was amazing, and the fruit energy paste is fascinating. The pate was removed and replaced with a carrot curry soup that was in my opinion the best shelf stable soup I've ever had.
