A new menu and with notable upgrades - the main course is pure genius - and in the new and improved packaging that is much more user friendly. The outer pouch is the same old-style peelable seal, after doing this review and thinking about it, my guess is it's not so easy to open the new MRE pack if gloves are on. Plus, this thing albeit lightweight, I think it's a tad more bulky than retort pouches. The Pro-Pak by Mountain House is still a much needed upgrade and it's absolutely amazing getting to see what this ration became in 2024, after being produced for over 20 years now. It was awesome then, but it's really just unrivaled as a cold weather ration by this point. I suppose the Dutch and British could give us a good run for our money though. I sure love cold weather rations - they're always a real treat.
