The Architectural League’s Annual Meeting—held this year on June 30—is an occasion for the election of officers and directors, reports on recent accomplishments and plans for the future, and delivery of the Henry N. Cobb Annual Meeting Address by an invited practitioner, educator, or theorist. League President Paul Lewis and League Executive Director Rosalie Genevro delivered introductory remarks summarizing the year’s challenges and accomplishments.

The Henry N. Cobb Lecture Annual Meeting Address is a commissioned lecture by a leading figure in architectural practice, education, or theory who brings a distinctive point of view to the question of what can—and should—animate architectural discourse and production now. The 2021 address “Change Agency, Value Change,” was delivered by Renée Cheng, Dean of the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington. In her Annual Meeting Address, Cheng challenged architects to better articulate and explicitly take responsibility for the value that architecture adds to collective life.
