It is not hyperbole to say that 2020 was the hardest year in living memory. A global pandemic radically altered all of our lives. Politics in the US, Europe and China got turned up to 11. Trade wars. Wildfires. Economic downturns. This was a hard year.
But, for me, the challenges of this year highlighted that it was a really good year for myself and my family. After nearly a lifetime of getting to the end of a year and only feeling failure, I come to the end of this year feeling like I overcame the year. Life was not easy, but I'm still standing here at the end, and against all odds I have a smile on my face.
Too many of you do not have a smile on your face, however. For some of you, 2020 was a radically hard year. But, that in no way makes 2020 a failure. In fact, you reading this right now is a fantastic victory.
In a year when the world conspired against you, you are still standing. You won. 2020 did not beat you. You are victorious.
Hold your head high. You did it.
