A discussion and seeding some corns for addition to my flint and flour corn breeding projects. All six of the corns I am adding to the corn projects this year are from Mexico. Five of them are from the Sonoran Desert regions in Northwest Mexico, and one type is from Oaxaca.
This is the first succession planting of these corns that I will make, I’ll do an additional greenhouse seeding in two or three weeks, and a final succession which will be direct seeded with the rest of my primary corn project seeds. This will hopefully give me a range of different maturity stages that will enable at least one of the successions to overlap in flowering when the other corns are shedding pollen.
I recognize that this video is probably a bit boring for people who aren’t interested in amateur corn breeding, but I am planning on making a number of videos about the corn this year, so this one is useful background information for the future. Hopefully a few people will find it interesting.
