The third installment in 2005 for Hallmark's Singing Snowmen/Jingle Pals collection was the "Piano Snowman."
I feel it worth mentioning that "Jingle Pals" is just a name the collectors have dubbed for the collection, which was originally intended to be just the name of the 2004 installment. I like the name, so I've called it that, but I believe the official name for the series is the Singing Snowmen series.
This third installment is one of my all-time favorites in the series, and it's such a shame that they apparently are hard to find in complete working order. I was able to get ahold of one earlier this year, though, and I love him. The snowman will play his piano singing portions from Let it Snow, Jingle Bell Rock, and Holly Jolly Christmas, making this the longest in duration in the series. All three songs he performs are some of my favorite Christmas songs, and to have such a jazzy rendition all in one is very entertaining and nice. Before I go into more detail, I should mention this might be the only solo installation I can think of, and the fact that I love it so much (as someone who usually prefers the animal-related installments) is a testament to how much they put into this one little guy. This was the debut of lights in the Jingle Pals series, using lights behind his sheet music as well as all around the piano. In addition, I am very impressed that they added a bow animation at the end out of nowhere. It's only used once, and it's incredible to see the sudden change in movement at the very last moment. It really makes this one much more magical and unique, as I can't think of any other installments that do anything like this. They really went all out for this third installment, yet unfortunately it seems to be one of the more obscure ones. Nobody really seems to talk about him. In addition, I love the little gift he sits on. It's a nice touch. This installment is such a step up from 2003 and 2004, and that's not to say those ones were bad or anything, this just stepped it up.
When recording these clips, I decided it may be fun to film versions of some of the most lighted installments in dim lighting or in full darkness to appreciate how many lights there are. These alternate recordings can be found here:
