The Gemmy 5 ft Dancing Singing Snowman was released sometime in the early 2000's. He will dance and move his mouth as he sings "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", "Up on the House Top", "Jingle Bells", and "Deck the Halls."
2020 UPDATE: I should probably clarify a few things. Unfortunately, I'm incredibly inexperienced when it comes to anything mechanical. I've never opened anything like this to repair it, and as a result, I'm very apprehensive when it comes to working on something like this. I really appreciate any offers to help, but I will probably not be accepting any for the time being. I might feel more comfortable giving it a go in the future, but for now I'm just not feeling it. Merry Christmas everybody! Today I am going to introduce you to my most nostalgic Christmas decorations, and probably one of my most prized possessions ever. I've had this guy since I was either 2 or 3 years old, so he's been in my life every year for about as long as I remember. I named him Snowy, so that's what I'll be referring to him as. My parents told me when I was 2 or 3, we would end up going to a store where they had the Gemmy Santa and Gemmy Snowman on display. I was always enamored with both, but had a special attraction towards the snowman in particular. That year, for Christmas, they gave me my very own, and I instantly named him Snowy. Snowy has always been one of my favorite parts of the holiday season and it always excites me to just see a big 'ol snowman in my house. He doesn't work as great as he used to - I think his arms used to move a little, his dances were a bit smoother, and his mouth only moves when moved to his right side - but I still love him and even if he stops working, I'll always insist on keeping him out each year. He had a microphone as well that you could use to make him speak, but I lost that years ago. Oh well. Anyways, there's only one more decoration showcase later tonight, so stay tuned.
So the making of this video was actually fairly difficult. While everything else could easily be moved into my basement to showcase under nice lighting, Snowy proved to be a challenge. I had to move all my equipment to my living room to capture him. Because he is either activated by a button (what I always have him set to) or a motion sensor on his base, I decided to literally use my boom microphone to activate it. Yeah, it's not perfect, and the audio didn't come out too great, but it's just a hard one to do! Still, I wanted to share him with all of you, so I hope you enjoy! :)
