After quite some time here I am sharing with you some karting-related footage again. I haven't given up on venting some stress at my local karting circuits in the last months, on the contrary! In fact 2023 was probably the year I competed the most especially at Kart&Go, an indoor structure located near the city of Como in Italy. A lovely feature of this venue is that the track can be modified into 6 different layouts, called with names that refer to famous international tracks but without having a direct resemblance to the actual circuits. The configuration is generally changed once a month, so you never get tired of driving there during the year.
Until last Friday we had 6 configurations respectively called Monza, Monte Carlo, Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, Baku and Macao, but starting from Saturday there's a 7th layout: Suzuka. It was a real surprise for everyone, as it was unveiled just minutes ahead of the last race of the 2023 season, the Kart&Go Finals. During the day we managed to discover the track and then we did quite a few races with both rental karts offered by the structure: the Sodi SR4 and the Birel ART N-35. Both are fitted with a Honda 270cc 4-strokes engine but the Birel is lighter with a more 'racing' chassis, it's fitted with racing tyres and it's engine has a shorter gear ratio compared to the one on the Sodi.
This video is about a freezing 20 minutes free practice session I did a couple of days ago as I wanted to further learn this layout with the Birel karts 🥶

What the hell is a 3D/Binaural recording?
Binaural recordings are reproductions of sound the way human ears hear it. Traditionally, recordings have been made using mono or stereo. Mono uses a single microphone while stereo uses two, spaced apart from each other. Binaural recording takes the stereo method one step further by placing two microphones approximately at the same average distance that exists between one and the other human ear.
To recreate the best effect you must put the microphones in your ears or by using a dummy head (wherein a mannequin head is outfitted with a microphone in each ear) because having a real head or a head shape that separates the two microphones is what makes the magic works. In fact if a car passes on your left side the sound will take a few extra microseconds to reach the right ear and it will also be louder in one ear (left) than the other. This is caused by the fact we have a thick skull and spongy brain between the two ears and sound waves interact with the physical constitution of the listener and the surrounding space.
