Head of Base Jesse Pollak gives two things he admires about Solana:
"One is the focus on trading culture, where I think that Solana has leaned in really like, over the last couple years to to build a trading culture, both from a like, there's gonna be consumer trading activity that's happening here, but also like from an infrastructure perspective, we're gonna IBRL, we're gonna like focus on figuring out how do we make trading infrastructure that works and can kind of push the limits of market design.
And so for instance, prop AMMs, that was something that we saw emerge on Solana. I think that that's a result of that investment that the community has made.
The other thing that I'd say, you know, is something I kind of admire about Solana is just like the grit, right? Like, you know, Solana went through the down market, FTX, you know, the price going really low, and people get kept building.
And if there's one thing I've learned in 13 years of doing this, it's like, you just gotta keep showing up. And I feel like Solana keeps showing up."

![Senator Bernie Moreno: How I Got Into Crypto and Blockchain
Senator Bernie Moreno on how he first got into crypto and blockchain:
“I came to my first Consensus conference 14 years ago. So a long time ago.
It was, I joke, 150 misfits. Now there’s a lot more of us...
And in 2016, with a partner, I started a company that uses
blockchain as the underlying technology to make card titles digital. We launched that company. It’s been doing very, very well. I sold my shares in that company. Again, not to have conflicts of interest in the Senate, but the company is absolutely [going bananas].”
– Senator Bernie Moreno at @CoinDesk Consensus 2026 with Kristin Smith, President of Solana Policy Institute
