Two police officers were shot and a suspect was killed after an investigation that began in Hartford led to a chase and ended with gunfire in Newington, according to police.
Hartford and Rocky Hill police say officers were investigating illegal activity near Fales Street in Hartford when a man ran from officers. Police say the suspect later drove away and the vehicle was eventually stopped on Webster Court in Newington, near the Rocky Hill town line. Police say the suspect got out of the vehicle and both officers and the suspect fired shots.
A Hartford police officer and a Rocky Hill police officer were shot and taken to an area hospital, where police say they are in stable condition. The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Connecticut Office of Inspector General is handling the investigation.
