Blasphemous 2 is a Metroidvania game developed by The Game Kitchen and published by Team17 which is the next iteration of the well-renowned Blasphemous series. In this sequel, you will be back in playing as the Silent Penitent One who was mysteriously revived after the death of Crisanta, an ally who helped him defeat the High Wills in the previous game. Immediately after, the Penitent One is tasked by a certain Anunciada of thwarting the First Psalm which is done by killing the next Son of the Miracle, which is the entity sleeping inside a large heart that suddenly appeared at the sky. Stopping the Penitent One in his goal are the Son of the Miracle's sentinels lead by Eviterno, the Father of the Penitents. With new weaponry in his repertoire, the Penitent One will enter into another journey of discovering the events that occurred while he was gone and the new horrors the Miracle set in store for him.

A game which received various scores among different platforms ranging from 83-85 which was higher that its previous title. Praises were given on its more detailed art style, the improved platforming mechanics, the introduction of new and varying weapons, and the diverse enemies and bosses in the game. On the other hand, the criticisms were given on the change of its art style from its cutscenes from being a haunting pixelated art to a more flashy and cartoonish animation which also affected the dark tone of the game as well as the bugs that it had during launch.

As for me, although I still really enjoyed and loved this game. I still had reservation on some of its changes. On the pros, I am in agreement that its platforming and new weapons were fresh and was a new improvement of the game and despite that, still maintained the more restricted and slow pacing of the game which I liked. I also liked the improvement in the pixelated art of the game sprite which not only made them detailed but had more animation and more alive. As for the cons though, I am one of those disappointed with the change of the animation, not only did it remove the uniqueness of the series but also lessened dark and creepy tone of the previous game. Furthermore, I am also 50-50 with making the game easier, the bosses in this game aren't as memorable as the previous game and are much easier. Furthermore, although the platforming in this game was made more faster, it was not as unique as the previous where they had mechanics like timing your jumps based on the changing wind movements or rushing unless you want to get hit by soundwaves that came from big bells. Although I still prefer the previous game, this is still a great metroidvania game that is highly recommended to fans of the genre. Enjoy the walkthrough!!!
