Yes, Tecmo made an arcade version of Mighty Bomb Jack for the Vs. system, but as far as I can tell it was only released in Japan. Given that I'd decided to try to do the RetroAchievements for the NES version a few weeks ago, I figured I could do this for the sake of the 1CCBBH series as well.
Differences between this and the home version:
* No GDV score, default high score is 100,000 (but still doesn't have a ranking list with initials)
* Gameplay demo in attract mode
* Alternating 2-player mode
* Enemy rank is higher, on later stages they transform into enemies quicker and move faster overall! So this is definitely a more difficult game than its home counterpart.
* No more "warping" in Royal Palace rooms. To warp in the home version, after the first bomb is picked up another bomb will be lit, you have to then pick up every other bomb and get the lit bomb last. This will "warp" you to the next Royal Palace room, and can be done over and over to quickly advance through stages (although if you screw up and die in the middle of warping, you will be sent back to the first stage you started "warping" from). This is now gone so the game does have to be played in order, although built-in secret warps like the one after getting the crystal on Round 7 will still take you to 10.
To get the best possible ending in this game, three things have to be done:
* Find the crystal ball on Round 7
* Find the crystal ball on Round 12, which is hidden in a gigantic maze
* Obtain at least 5 S-Coins
Doing this will make it so you have to save the King, Queen, Princess, and Belzebut (?) one after another in the final stage. I'm not sure this ending is really worth it, other than the fat 1 million points you get from it.
As this Vs. version is based off the Japanese release of Mighty Bomb Jack, uncovering some of the secrets in this game can be slightly more obtuse, some of them were made simpler for the English release. Luckily a lot of secrets in this game can be skipped. StrategyWiki has more detailed information on stage differences between the Japanese and English versions.
