Here is Buggy Boy's version of the 1998 Visionaire 500K Indy Racing League race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on July 25, 1998 which was the second and last official IndyCar race at Charlotte Motor Speedway because as you know, one year later, three spectators were killed by debris from a crash that sailed into the grandstands involving John Paul Jr. & Stan Wattles while eight spectators were injured, two of which were children by the names of Hailey McGee of Conover, age 9, who was listed in critical condition with bruises to her brain and lungs and Amanda R. Shondelmyer of Hickory, age 11, had a head laceration and an injured right shoulder. All of the hospitalized people who survived, except for Hailey McGee were released by the following evening while McGee was released from the hospital approximately two-and-a-half weeks later.
TNN (The Nashville Network) aired this race where Eli Gold was the lap-by-lap announcer instead of Mike Joy and Bobby Gerould was a pit reporter instead of Ralph Sheheen because earlier that day, Mike Joy & Ralph Sheheen covered the NASCAR Truck race at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado for CBS. The former race still had Tom Sneva as a color commentator and Vince Welch as a pit reporter like with the other three IRL races that TNN televised that year which were the True Value 500 (Texas), the Atlanta 500 Classic (Atlanta) & the 1998 Las Vegas 500K (Las Vegas).
This was the only IndyCar race that Eli Gold covered on TV and the only one to have Bobby Gerould involved in any capacity whether on TV or radio and he's the son of Gary Gerould. Even though not all of the pre-race and the end of the post-race coverage is in this video, some of the former and the latter are in other versions of this race.
The font that TNN used for their motorsports coverage from 1998-2000 was Placard as you see in this video.
Buggy Boy should've been more careful with his videos on YouTube account where he uploaded full races and other stuff which he would've done by removing the copyright music from videos that had it, much like how I've done that with video games that had licensed music and I was unable to remove it. Dave W has done that with his motorsports videos as well.
It would be controversial if doctorindy (Keith Johnson) forced kids to see anything related to South Park because it would contradict the fact that it's inappropriate for kids and they would have a bad experience.
This race is an example of why in motorsports, they usually don't race in the rain on ovals which they did in the movie Driven and it made no sense. The winner of this race, Kenny Brack appeared in that film and his win in this race was his first IndyCar win and the first of nine, the others being at Pikes Peak International Raceway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Indy 500, Twin Ring Motegi, Milwaukee Mile, Chicago Motor Speedway, EuroSpeedway Lausitz and Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, the last of which was his only IndyCar win on a road course and it came at the last possible moment. After he won this race, he won the next two at Pikes Peak and Atlanta for three in a row and had he also won the Las Vegas 500K, he and a fan would've split a million dollars as part of the MCI Million Dollar Sweepstakes because he also won at Charlotte and Atlanta, but he and a fan split $100,000 instead because he didn't win at Las Vegas which was won by Arie Luyendyk, but he did clinch the IRL championship over Tony Stewart and Davey Hamilton which was Tony Stewart's last IndyCar race full-time.
Billy Boat helped cover the race on TNN with Eli Gold and Tom Sneva and his fuelman at the Indy 500 that year was Chocolate Myers who was also the gasman for Dale Earnhardt on the same day at the Coca Cola 600 which took place at the same track as this one and he did serve as Dale Earnhardt's gasman when he finally won the Daytona 500 earlier that year and Scott Goodyear even worked on his car in Earnhardt's shop that weekend. Anyone who was in attendance for this race enjoyed it with their money's worth as Eli Gold noted at the end of the telecast.
One thing you notice is that TNN updated the headshots of Greg Ray, Jeff Ward and Donnie Beechler from their previous IRL telecast of the True Value 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. This was also the only one on TNN where they showed the headshots of Stevie Reeves & Jimmy Kite and the only TNN televised race in 1998 to not have Billy Boat, Robbie Buhl, Buzz Calkins, Stan Wattles or Roberto Guerrero on the field.
I would love to show this race to staff from Romona Elementary School in Wilmette since Eddie Cheever won the Indy 500 that year and he was born in the same year it was founded (1958). I enjoy increasing attention between motorsports and Wilmette since if you go to a lot of teacher websites (including old ones) and staff bios of them, they don't seem to reference motorsports in any capacity. I'm sure they'd love this race.
