The PEGASYS Awards is an annual video competition and awards ceremony for public and educational access producers in Ithaca, NY first organized by staff and volunteers of Ithaca's PEGASYS Community Media Center in 1985. Host of the 1996 Awards is Studio Coordinator Lauren Stefanelli. Introduction is by Tom Doheny, Time Warner Cable Marketing Manager. Producers competed in 9 categories. Winners are: 1. Arts Event, Karl Madeo and his Alternative Community School class; 2. Community Meeting, Julie Crowell; 3. Variety, Mike Fairbanks; 4. Public Affairs Magazine, Matt Gaffney and Deb Cranwell; Wies van Leuken; 5. Innovative, Mary Milne; 6. Youth, Jeff Spence and his IHS class; 7. Documentary, Gossa Tsegaye; 8. Talk Show, Pauline Layton, Deb Cranwell and Tom McCudden; 9. Instructional, Rita Cederstrom.
