The Commodore PC-10, also known as the Commodore Colt, is an IBM PC-compatible XT-class computer released in the late 1980s. Powered by the Intel 8088 CPU, this clone was Commodore’s answer to popular machines like the Blue Chip PC, Tandy 1000, and Leading Edge Model D.
In this video, I showcase my 1987 Commodore Colt PC-10, open up the case for a closer look at the hardware, and demo its CGA graphics (RGBi) output. I also explore what made this 8-bit/16-bit hybrid system a hidden gem in the world of DOS gaming and PC clones.
Interestingly, Commodore’s PC-10 design traces back to an Intel-licensed Dynalogic Hyperion platform, giving it a unique place in computing history.
Note: I mistakenly call the RGBi port “CGI” in the video—it is actually the RGB interface used with CGA monitors.
