Got an AV Famicom and can't get your NES Zapper working with classics like Hogan's Alley or Duck Hunt? Don't worry, your console or Zapper isn't broken. The NES Zapper was never officially released in Japan. Unlike the NES, the AV Famicom expects a Famicom light gun connected to the 15-pin expansion port, not controller port 2.
In this video, I explain why the NES Zapper doesn't work on the AV Famicom and show how to fix it. With a few simple soldering steps, you can make the necessary connections to get your NES Zapper fully working on your Nintendo AV Famicom without spending big money on a rare Famicom light gun.
Learn how to:
- Understand why the NES Zapper doesn't work on the AV Famicom by default
- Modify the AV Famicom controller port to support the NES Zapper
- Play classic light gun games like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley on your AV Famicom
If you're into retro gaming, Nintendo NES, or Famicom consoles and enjoy modding and tinkering, this is a must-watch.
