Here we have a really lovely 1978 Stern Stars pinball machine in action.
If you've been a fan of this channel for a long time, you know that I love the Classic Sterns and have since I got into pinball in 2003. Some of my earliest videos were of Stern Cheetah, Lightning, Lectronamo, Star Gazer, Freefall and others. But this is the first time I've had an opportunity to shoot a Stars video and, let me tell ya, this game is everything Ron and Bruce on the Slam Tilt Podcast say it is (and big shout out to them, by the way). It's just simply a great, fun, unique game and typical of the kind of strange stuff that designer Steve Kirk would dream up.
Hit the star targets to light them and juice up the spinner on the right. Hitting all five star targets lights one star target for special but that target changes with each spin of the right spinner. Genius. Hit the drops to advance the bonus multiplier and award the special. Hitting the red drop targets advances the left spinner value but ONLY when those targets are down. There's some other fun and interesting rules regarding the drops that I won't get into but suffice it to say it's Steve Kirk at his best.
Stars was designed, as I mentioned, by the eccentric Steve Kirk. Artwork was done by Jorge Obregon.
