"In order for people to be really good, they have to make a free choice between Good and Evil. I'm a vital part of his plan. I provide the Evil." - George Spiggot, Bedazzled (1967)

Peter Cook plays the Devil in Bedazzled, a new film that brings Faust to the streets of modern day London. As well as acting in the film alongside his comedy partner Dudley Moore, Cook wrote the film's screenplay. Bedazzled is just the latest in a long line of art that makes fun of the Devil, but is there a serious message to it? Is it a moral film? Is the Devil a fair subject for comedy?

Cook discusses faith, religion, and blasphemy and debates whether we should take the bible literally with Reverend Joseph McCulloch, the Rector of St Mary-le-Bow in the City of London.

Chairing the debate is Robert Kee.
