Lyn Murray was born Lionel Breeze on December 6, 1909 in London, England. He was a conductor and composer for stage, screen, and radio. He was the leader of The Lyn Murray Singers, and director of The Decca Mixed Chorus. He died May 20, 1989 (age 79) in Los Angeles, California.

The Lyn Murray Singers were a choral group founded and directed by Lyn Murray that recorded with Columbia, Decca, and Victor and appeared regularly on radio shows like "The Texaco Star Theatre" and "Your Hit Parade" in the 1940s. Not identical with the Lyn Murray Orchestra, although both were conducted by the same man and sometimes performed together.

Note: The first 78 RPM record came into existence around 1894, and in 1912 the Gramophone Company established 78 rotations per minute as their recording standard. The production of shellac records continued throughout the 78 rpm era, with "non-breakable" 78 rpm vinyl records being introduced in the 1940s. The popularity of the 33 1/3 rpm "Long Play" record, initially released in 1948, caused the 78 rpm record to become obsolete before the end of the 1950s. As these 78 rpm recordings are quite old, they may contain derogatory language and/or negative stereotypes. It is important to evaluate such recordings within their historical context and consider them as a reflection of the attitudes prevalent at the time. He was born on May 16, 1913, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and started playing the saxophone and clarinet during his high school years. Herman quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent, and his love for music led him to join several orchestras, including the Tom Gerun & Orchestra, Harry Sosnik, Gus Arnheim, and the orchestra of Isham Jones. In 1936, Herman became a core member of the disbanded orchestras hot fraction when Jones retired. He went on to create his own orchestra, Woody Herman And His Orchestra, which became a legendary source of jazz talent over the decades. Herman remained faithful to his orchestra until the end of his life. One of his bands most famous hits, Woodchoppers Ball, remains an iconic piece of jazz music. Hermans significant contributions to music earned him several accolades, including three Grammy Awards in the category Best Jazz Performance – Large Group (Instrumental). He also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987, shortly before his death on October 29, 1987, in Los Angeles, California, USA. The Four Chips: Bass – Andy Lambert Clarinet – Woody Herman Drums – Don Lamond Guitar – Gene Sargent Piano – Dick Kane Woody Hermans Four Chips were an American jazz ensemble in 1940. Woody Herman took a quartet from The Band That Plays the Blues (Woody Herman And His Orchestra - Carlson, White, Linehan and Yoder) in order to produce records in studio. This selection were the main musicians of the contemporary big band. The first recording sessions took place in New York, September 9, 1940. The ensemble was reactivated in February 1947, shortly after Herman disbanded the first herd. Those sessions lasted until March 31st, 1947 and were made with a different ensemble but with the same name.
