193 - Vicki Peterson (the Bangles)
In episode 193 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with guitarist Vicki Peterson from the Bangles among other bands. In their conversation Vicki discusses living back in LA after living in New York and New Orleans and how the fires affected her and her husband John Cowsill.
Vicki tells us about her childhood in LA and her passion for guitar early on be influenced by the Beatles which led to her high school bands and playing clubs in the greater LA area.
Vicki describes her gear early on and throughout her career including her Gibson Les Paul that’s had a broken headstock three times and tells us about her collection of guitars. She also tells us about where she does her shopping.
Vicki talks about the Bangles model guitar she helped design with Daisy Rock guitars.
Vicki describes early LA, opening for a punk band called the Alleycats and how that eventually led to the Bangles record deal.
Vicki tells us about her new album with her husband John Cowsill covering the songs of his brothers titled “Long After the Fire” and Vicki tells us about her contribution to the album which is mostly vocal and the shows they’ve done supporting the album supporting the Smithereens.
Finally Vicki describes what she and her husband John do for fun, singing for their friends and contemporaries.
