The Richard Childress 07 team struggled with Dave Blaney and Phillipe Lopez. Resulting in them to clear house for the Emporia, Kansas kid Clint Bowyer and crew chief Gil Martin. His rookie season would see him have a glass half empty, glass half full season. Something that included his first cup start at the Kansas Speedway. 2007, however, is where Clint Bowyer would pick up. He would not have a sophomore slump, but rather a sophomore surge that would see him strike gold in the 2007 Sylvania 300. Just the tip of the iceberg in this stellar NASCAR Cup Series season.
