This dramatic motif makes three appearances throughout the show. While it does sound slightly different every time (pay close attention to the percussion!), chances are the last two appearances are reused versions of the first. In this case, my personal “rule of three” applies – if a certain track with a unique motif or theme is reused not once, but twice, I'm counting it as a recurring motif in this list. While appropriately used in “Special”, the ‘polar bear’ motif revolves around a different, unusual and large animal in “Ab Aeterno”.
