Battle 27: Grog Hill
Nanten Deserter [Squire]: Damn, what rotten luck, a pursuit unit!
Ramza: Are you a Nanten patrol?
Deserter: We're tired of fighting! We want to go home! We'd rather be poor and covered with mud than this! We're sick of killing! We want to return to our families!
Ramza: Wait! We're not after you! We have no desire to fight! Don't misunderstand!
Deserter: Don't lie! You expect us to believe you? Trying to get us off guard then kill us! Well none of your tricks will work!
[Another] Deserter [Chemist]: H, hey! He was on the wanted list!
Deserter: Huh? ....So what?!
Deserter: It's him! The 'heretic'! You know! If we bring him to them, they may let us off!!
Deserter: You mean...going back to the Knights?
Deserter: Getting a 'heretic's big. Like getting enemy brass! If we get him, they might give us a discharge, too.
Deserter: That's right...I know a guy discharged in an exchange.
Deserter: We can go home big! Otherwise, we'll have to live in hiding as deserters!
Deserter: Right! Let's catch him! We can even kill him! He's a 'heretic', they'll execute him sooner or later. We can go home by killing him! This is our last battle!!

![002 - The Lion War
Transcript:
The Kingdom of Ivalice; forever guarded by the twin headed lions and by the sun that shines upon them...A year after the defeat of the 50 Year War, The King had died from a terminal illness earlier and the prince who succeed[ed] him was only 2 years old. This meant his guardian would actually reign in his stead as King. The Queens elder brother Larg was designated as guardian but, fearing an oppressive reign from the Queen, the parliament ousted the potential prince Appointing instead the Kings cousin, Prince Goltana, as the guardian. Prince Goltana and Prince Larg are both respected generals who proved themselves in the 50 Year War. Prince Goltana had the support of the powerful Nobles but, disinfranchised [disenfranchised] Nobles and knights clearly supported Prince Larg. The Black Lion symbolizes Prince Goltana and the White Lion symbolizes Prince Larg. This is the beginning of what will later by known as the Lion War. 002 - The Lion War](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/MfazdudHJgA/mqdefault.jpg)

Team Prep: 0:00 - 3:56
Battle: 3:56 - End
Strategy:
I took all of Lavians, Alicias, and Rads equipment and told them they were not needed in my party. Then I took Agrias and Gafgarions equip and gave it to the more permanent members of the party (slots 2-5). I upgraded equipment at Dorter, at Gariland Magic City, and also went to Igros Castle to get updated Knight equipment, Javelins for the future Lancers. I avoided Barbutas (helmets), Mythril Vests, and Headgear because there are better items available soon after the next couple battles.
